About Telluride, Colorado
As you search for photographs along Main Street Telluride, you’ll pass hipster coffee shops, world-class restaurants, and more boutiques than you can shake a stick at but you'll probably find your eye drifting skyward toward the mountains encircling this quaint village of ski bums and movie stars. After a long day of shooting and editing you and your fellow students can duck into one of the many local watering holes for a pint and when you are done, no worries, just hop on the free gondola and drift up the side of the mountain to your hotel. DAY 7: Meet with fellow classmates and your instructors for a final group critique. There will also be an open Q + A with Amy and Matt. Workshop ends at noon.
Your Instructors: Matt + Amy
Photographers Amy Toensing and Matt Moyer are regular contributors to National Geographic magazine and have won numerous photography awards. They got their start documenting small towns: Amy in New Hampshire and Matt in upstate New York- where both discovered the importance of community, culture, and the beauty of the natural world. While working in those small communities Amy and Matt learned the importance of making a personal connection with their subjects and the subtlety of visual story telling. These are the lessons they call on every day when they are on assignment for the world's top photography publications. These are the lessons they want to teach to you.
Who Should Attend
This workshop is geared towards the passionate photographer, ranging from the beginner to the beginning professional. We will push you to shoot on manual settings, so even if you have forgotten how f-stops and shutter speed affect your images, we will challenge you to learn.
You will need to have a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera and your own laptop computer with editing software. We will require you to use Adobe Lightroom - you can find free three-month trials here. Most important is that you are passionate about photography and eager to push yourself to the next level.
